An affair between a young man and his female boss, Sami stories, and a documentary about the body are some of the ingredients in this week's newly released films on Viddla.

The French film The Falling Star (L'étoile filante) is about a former activist who has been on the run for 35 years and now works as a bartender. However, just when he finally begins to feel safe, a mysterious stranger appears in his bar, seeking revenge.

The Giver is a sci-fi drama based on the book written by the award-winning children's and young adult author Lois Lowry. The story centers around a young boy named Jonas who receives his new assignment at the age of 12 in the closed society he is a part of. The Giver is a dystopia, but also a story about hope, about color, and perhaps most of all about love.

Nicole Kidman shines in the role of the ambitious and powerful CEO of the company Tensile, who puts her career and family at stake when she begins an affair with the company's latest intern. Harris Dickinson plays the pushy intern and Antonio Banderas plays the traditional husband. The direction of the film Babygirl is by the talented Halina Reijn.

We follow three people living in Hamarøy in Norway in the film Sami Stories of Right and Wrong. All three struggle to restore Sami dignity by coming to terms with the past. The film explores the aftermath of Norwegianization and allows space to listen to the voices of the Sami and their need for restitution.

Japanese Shadow of Fire (Hokage) is about one of the abandoned children struggling with life in the aftermath of World War II. The film has a strong anti-war message, with a particular focus on the difficult emotions and the terror that lingers long after the fighting is over.

Filmmaker Margreth Olin explores our self-image, for better or worse, with the film Kroppen Min. To understand how we develop poor self-images, she uses her own body and her own destroyed self-image as examples. The documentary has won several awards.
