The #MeToo-movement stirs in Japan, historical action-drama from Kazakhstan and American comedy are some of the ingredients in this week’s newly published films at Viddla.

Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy: The Vampire Slayer) plays the lead in the film Veronika Decides to Die. Veronika is sent to a mental-institution after a failed suicide attempt. The doctors tell her that she has weeks to live, at best. The dramatic message sparks an intense need for her to finally start living. The brilliant David Thewlis plays the head psychiatrist of the institution.

In Wake Up Leonard the awkward Leonard needs to straighten out his messy life in order for him to get back with his girlfriend. This 2022 comedy is a moving, recognizable and funny look at the way millennials deal with the more problematic sides of their lives.

In this sequel to The Diamond Sword the rival descendants of Djengis Khan fight for independence and the opportunity to be one nation. Kazakh Khanate- Golden Throne continues the story of this Kazakh version of Game of Thrones.

Shiori Ito is a Japanese journalist and filmmaker who has been sexually assaulted and is struggling to have her story heard – and believed. The very personal documentary Black Box Diaries sheds light in the difficult topic of rape and how hard it can be to break through the masculine arrogance of power that often protects the perpetrators. Due to legal issues the film cannot yet be shown in Japan.

Can two fastidious, modern persons overcome their high standards, seek compromises and find love? Watch the movie and decide for yourself if Elsker dig for tiden (Love you right now) can become “love you forever”.
