Civil Rights activists in the Deep South, reluctant climate change activists and men’s mental health are some of the themes in this week’s newly published films on Viddla.

He follows his brother on the band’s biggest tour yet, in Mistaken for Strangers. Tom Berninger documents his own life, his brother and the band members in The National. There are glimpses of music and the band dynamics. But this is probably most of all a portrait of the film maker himself.

Son of the South is a drama based on real events. The grandchild of a KKK-member grows up in the 1960s. Despite being raised in the hatred, he seeks out the Civil Rights Movement.

They have a lot going on, the couples in the drama Four Little Adults. A middle-aged couple decides, in a crisis involving infidelity, to open up their marriage and engage in polyamory.

Albert and Bruno decide to join a self-help group for shopaholics. Here they encounter climate activists who invite them to their meetings. This kicks off A Difficult Year as they gradually become more involved in the climate movement and find an unexpected community there.

Mrs. Henderson loses her husband, but she will not let that slow her down. She decides to buy a run-down theatre in Soho and revive it, in Mrs. Henderson Presents.

The mental health of men is a hot topic these days, and the movie Take Shelter is a good addition to the debate. Curtis has bad dreams and hallucinations, and he fears that it might be a hereditary condition – or visions of doomsday. In his despair, he decides to build a shelter in his own backyard.

Happy film week!
