When on a signing tour in New York, the author Max meets Rebecca. They spend a couple of happy and passionate days together in Montauk, Long Island, but is forced to say good bye when his tour is over. Max, who is married, tries his best to forget about Rebecca when he’s home again. Seventeen years later, Max once again finds himself on a signing tour In New York, and history repeats itself. Max and Rebecca meet again in Montauk to find an answer to a question: was it the right decision to part the first time? Jan-Olov Andersson at Aftonbladet writes that “what makes this movie so strong, is Skarsgård’s ability to cast so much life into an anxious author that you become engaged in his destiny, even though he’s mostly an egoistic douchebag who wants to have the cake and eat it too, when it comes to women”.
