Léon (1994)
Léon, a professional assassin, reluctantly agrees to care for a 12-year-old girl whose family gets murdered. A strong bond forms between the unusual pair, and Léon makes the young girl his protégée to teach her the ways of the professional assassin.  In the film, we see Natalie Portman in her feature debut. By her side, she has Jean Reno and Gary Oldman, among others.

O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000)
Three escaped convicts are trying to find their way home to their families while searching for the treasure one of them claims to have hidden after his last coup. On their long journey through the American south, they have an adventure of a lifetime, and they meet many colourful personalities that challenge their resourcefulness.  

Drive (2011)
A quiet and mysterious stunt driver in Los Angeles uses his skills behind the wheel by moonlighting as a driver for criminals. After he begins to pay notice to his neighbour, he eventually manages to anger some of the most dangerous individuals in the city. 

In the leads, we see Ryan Gosling and Carey Mulligan. Danish Nicolas Winding Refn directed the film.

District 9 (2009)
An alien species has reached Earth but are forced to live separately, heavily guarded, in a slum. A government agent is tasked with communicating to the aliens that they are about to be transferred to a new district when he is exposed to a biochemical substance that makes him mutate. Suddenly, he gets treated similarly to the aliens, and his empathy for them grows as it happens.
