Orfeu negro
Orfeu Negro is one of two films that managed to win the Gold Palm in Cannes (1959) and win both an Oscar (1960) and a Golden globe (1960) for Best Foreign Film. In Orfeu Negro, French director Marcel Camus has created a cinematic experience where the mythological love story of Orfeus and Eurydike is placed in the middle of the slum in Rio de Janeiro. He is a lover of life that every woman adore, and she is a shy country girl on the run from a murderous stalker. Their fate is interlaced for a day of ecstatic carnival acid where anything can happen - except the predictable.
