The violent car-chasing movie Death proof imitates the formal and stylistic shortcomings of conscious exploitation film. We follow Stuntman Mike who chases women and tricks them into his very special car. Karoline Eriksson writes in SvD "Everything blends into a bit of uneven, but very entertaining story. As a matter of fact, it's not dusty retro kitsch, from a feminist perspective, the second half of Death proof feels very modern." In the USA the old dirty cinemas were called Grindhouses, and they showed cheap exploitation films with horror, violence and sex. Usually you could watch two movies for the price of one, and Tarantino's Death proof was also shown in this way, together with Robert Rodriguez's Planet terror.
