Charles "Chuck" Krantz (Tom Hiddleston) grows up with his kind grandparents (Mark Hamill and Mia Sara). In the safe home, there is a room that is constantly locked. The secrets behind the locked door are something Chuck constantly ponders - is there perhaps something more in there than just a weak floor? Together with Chuck, we experience life's sorrows and joys, not least the love of dance that he received from his beloved grandmother. Among the many people Chuck's life touches without him knowing it are his teacher Marty (Chiwetel Ejiofor) and his nurse Felicia (Karen Gillan).
